Privacy

You're about to send a stranger a video of the outside of your house. We take that seriously, so here is exactly what happens to it.

What we collect

• Your footage. The clip you upload, and the finished video we make from it.
• Your order details. Name, email address, which visitor you picked, and any instructions you sent.
• Payment records. Stripe processes your payment and holds your card details. We never see or store your card number — we only see that an order was paid, and the email attached to it.

We don't ask for your home address, and please don't send it. We don't need to know where you live to put a ghost on your porch.

What we do with it

We use your footage to fulfil your order. That's the whole list. Specifically, we do not:

• Sell it, rent it, or share it with data brokers or advertisers.
• Use it to train machine-learning models, ours or anyone else's.
• Post it on social media or use it as an example on this site — not without asking you first and getting a yes in writing, for that specific video.
• Look at any more of it than we need to in order to make your video.

Where it lives, and for how long

Uploads land in a private cloud storage folder that only we can open. Finished videos sit at an unlisted link that isn't indexed by search engines and isn't guessable.

30 days after we deliver your order, we delete all of it — your original clip, the working files, and the finished video. The delivery link stops working at the same time, which is why we tell you to download your copy. Want it gone sooner? Email us and we'll delete it that day and confirm when it's done.

We keep the basic order record — email, date, amount — for as long as tax rules require. That record doesn't include your footage.

Who else touches it

Three companies are involved in handling your order and your footage, and only these three:

• Stripe — processes payments. They handle your card details under their own privacy policy; we never receive them.
• Dropbox — holds the file you upload, in a private folder.
• Cloudflare — hosts this website and serves your delivery page.

Two more, and only on the public pages of this site:

• Google Analytics — tells us how many people visited and which pages they read, so we know whether anyone is finding us. It sets cookies and collects your approximate location, device, and referring site.
• Meta — the Facebook and Instagram advertising pixel, because we buy ads there. The next section spells out exactly what it sees.

Nobody else gets access. We don't have a marketing agency, and no data broker gets anything.

Neither one runs on your delivery page. The private link we email you — the one with your video on it — runs no analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party scripts of any kind, and sets no cookies of its own. If you visited our public pages earlier in the same browser, the cookies those set still exist on this domain, but nothing on your delivery page reads them or sends them anywhere. We deliberately keep Google and Meta away from it, because that link is meant to be seen by you and nobody else. Your footage is never sent to either of them.

If you'd rather not be counted at all, any browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop both, and nothing on this site breaks when you do.

Advertising

We advertise this service on Facebook and Instagram, which is most likely how you got here. That means the public pages of this site carry Meta's advertising pixel. Here is what it actually does.

The pixel tells Meta that a browser looked at a page here, clicked through to checkout, or finished an order — and the size of that order, so we can work out whether an ad paid for itself. Meta matches that against its own records where it can. That is why our ad follows you around for a few days after you visit, and it's how we decide who to show ads to next.

Here is what the pixel never gets:

• Your footage. Your clip goes straight to Dropbox and never passes through a page that has a pixel on it. There is no route from your video to Meta.
• Your finished video or your delivery link. Those pages carry no third-party scripts at all.
• Your card details. Those exist only inside Stripe, and we never see them either.
• Your name or email address. We don't upload customer lists to Meta and we've deliberately left off the feature that would send them your details.

Three ways to stop it, all of which we've made sure work:

• Any browser's tracking protection, or any ad blocker, blocks the pixel outright.
• If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, our pixel doesn't load at all. We check for it before anything is fetched from Meta.
• You can change what Meta does with what it has already collected in their ad preferences, under "Activity information from ad partners".

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone outside the companies named above. If we ever stop advertising, this section comes back out and the pixel comes off the site.

Email

We email you about your order: a receipt, a question if we have one, and your delivery link. If you'd like to hear from us next holiday we'll ask you first, and every such email has an unsubscribe link. We won't add you to anything you didn't opt into.

Other people in your footage

We ask you not to send clips with identifiable people in them, and we mean it — it's the single most important thing you can do to protect the people who walk past your house. If we spot a face in a clip, we'll ask you for a different one before we start work, and we'll delete the first.

Children

This service is for adults. We don't knowingly take orders from anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly process footage containing children. If you believe a child's footage reached us, email us and we'll delete it immediately.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can email us and ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We'll do it within 30 days and usually the same week — there's not much to look through.
